Boilermaker
03:13
|
|
||
I’m midway through a half rack, in the afternoon
The sun is beating down and I’m thinking I’m missing you
Would you come over tonight if I sing you a little tune?
Can we forget our fights, at least for a moment or two?
CHORUS
Sometimes when I’m looking at you, I start to come undone
You’re a boilermaker, you’re two in one
Where’d you get that nickname? Where’d you get those shoes?
Where’d you get thost highway arms, that beat me in three moves?
The dotted line is forever, or at least to another town
At certain speeds our machine starts breaking down
CHORUS
Pour me a special, from the bottom shelf
It’s not my first or my last and I guess it’s just as well
We won’t settle for just enough, or even pretty good
We took what we were given and we wrung out what we could
CHORUS
You’re a boilermaker, you’re two in one
You’re a boilermaker, you’re two in one

The sky never felt so far, I need an airplane to get there all I’ve got is a car
Hartsfield felt like the moon, I wanna say “let’s do it” but it feels too soon
So much that I’ve gotta say, when we are together again
The things that seem fun today, they’re not even close, they don’t relate
It’s hard to keep banging these pans when the wine we’ve been drinking all turned to sand
Got some catching up to do, when we are together again
My grandad told the truth when he said to find a place you can hold onto
Maybe its too much say to take off the mask and let the pain away
One bright shiny day, when we are together again
Like the last day of school, throw up all of your papers and break all the rules
Let’s start something new, we’ve never had so much and so little to do
The songs I wanna sing, when we are together again
When we are together, when we are together, when we are together again

Pilate Blues
04:16
|
|||
I gotta get out of this place
They can’t get their story straight
I come from a noble line
Judea’s just a waste of my time
And the ones above me only see the nickels and dimes
Seemed like a simple choice
the robber or the one that anoints
My words came out all blurred
couldn’t give that final verdict
Washed my hands and said it’s not my circus
CHORUS
The Pilate blues the Pilate blues
Don’t make me choose the Pilate blues
One or the other, either which way you lose
I’d rather be in Rome
this place it isn’t my home
The ways of men I don’t understand
they use words like the ocean uses sand
I have no one my dog is my only friend
I sent a sponge soaked in vinegar
so he wouldn’t suffer
Drank gallons of wine under the moon that night
as the pain shivered up my spine
And I dreamed a bird was clawing out my eyes
CHORUS
That’s the last you heard of me
lost in history
Fear won’t set you free
ask the man on Calvary
I washed my hands but still they won’t come clean
CHORUS
One or the other either which way you lose

The ruins of the Local Lounge
A watering hole I can see from my porch, they fly the flag and give a healthy pour
And the party goes on till two or more and they’re sweeping the floor
A lot more fun than the tapas place next door
CHORUS
I wish we could go and order one more round, and raise it up to those that ain’t around
Now the flags are tattered and torn, and fallen to the ground
The ruins of the Local Lounge
One time I went with my lady on Saturday late to a dance party
A guy sidled over and made some moves like we were three
Turned out he wanted my girl, he didn’t want me
CHORUS
The loud Sunday brunches were a little bit much cheap champagne and Let It Go for lunch
But if all comes back I won’t make a sound, I miss the Local Lounge
CHORUS
The ruins of the Local Lounge

No Place To Hide
03:27
|
|||
I’ve always been an outsider, at least that’s how it seems to me
I always wanna get higher, than anyone around me wants to be
In the house that I grew up in, they’re turning out the lights
I’m catching on that they’re moving on, leaving me behind
Leaving me outside with no place to hide
Leaving me outside with no place to hide
I know things seem a bit scary, and take their time to be born
Dead things gotta get buried, and put away when they’re worn
Now it’s the last call, we’re calling it a day
Too many close calls, we’re headed for the wall and there’s nothing left to say
Leaving me outside with no place to hide
Leaving me outside with no place to hide
We cannot seem to find shelter, though towers are all around
All I see is water in this dried out deserted town
For those that have gathered here and those that stayed behind
All those that are living and all those that have died
Leaving me outside with no place to hide
Leaving me outside with no place to hide
Leaving me outside with no place to hide
Leaving me outside with no place to hide
Leaving me outside with no place to hide
Leaving me outside with no place to hide

Hard Hearted
02:37
|
|||
CHORUS
Hard hearted, don’t let me get hard hearted
Hard hearted, don’t let me get hard hearted
Second skin the shape I’m in and it’s coming right down to the wire
Black smoke rising from below the road and I can’t see my way through the fire
Beautiful world for those who own it, but if all you do is take?
Half of me is slowly dying, the other is wide awake
CHORUS
CHORUS
Me and you and the world we made though it’s getting so much smaller
How did we do all the things we did? There’s no word from the caller
Now that the last is the first, or did I get that wrong?
Being pulled down the drain, till the water is all gone
CHORUS

Fidelity
05:53
|
|||
All we hear is deception, from the ones who run the nation
We met at the house on T Street, then we promptly went to a party
And I can’t hear you, what you say
And I can’t hear you, what you say
And I can’t hear you, what you say
What you say, what you say
CHORUS
Fidelity, you’re always what you seem, the way you speak to me
Fidelity, what we wanna be, on hi or low frequency
It’s not like it makes a difference, whether you’re screaming or you’re whispering
The receivers are all broken, from the rockin’ and the tokin’
And I can’t hear you, what you say
And I can’t hear you, what you say
And I can’t hear you, what you say
What you say, what you say

Pick You Up
04:33
|
|||
Saturday night at seven I put on a clean shirt
Went out to the driveway to see if my car would work
I had high hopes that things would turn out right
At eleven in the morning we’d finally say goodnight
Now we’ve gone round the sun at least a dozen times
Even with these years our stories seem to rhyme
Hold on me when I fall and never give me up
Anywhere you are dear I will pick you up
CHORUS
I will pick you up and never put you down
Even in our winter I’ll still want you around
Any kind of weather, in any part of town
I will pick you up and never put you down
There’s something sultry in the air tonight
Walk with me down by the riverside
If men love war then is this my Waterloo?
Can a warring lover stay right here with you?
If there’s snow on the roof, don’t mean the fire is gone
From the look in your eyes I can tell that we’re not done
From the highest mountain to the never ending plain
Stay with me until the end of day
CHORUS
I will pick you up and never put you down

Porte Cochere
04:16
|
|||
CHORUS
If you’ll be my mansion, I’ll be your Porte Cochère
Drop you off and watch you in and drive away from there
A nice feature at your side, columns twenty feet high
Porte Cochère
Close your eyes and visualize the place that you live
And just before midnight, you can have any wish
I’ll make your dreams come true, yeah I’ll give it all to you
But by your side, accessorize, a driveway to something new
CHORUS
The gravel under your wheels, the coachman at your heels
The built ins by the fire, can’t hold all your desires
Brushed concrete and stainless steel, fully wired and dressed to kill
A carport is alright, but you deserve a brighter light
CHORUS
Porte Cochère

No Tears In The Rain
02:15
|
|||
We headed west and spent the night in Nashville Tennesee
Saw some friends, Union Station, and the Grand Opry
Then on to Memphis on Highway Forty
Living together as free as can be
One winter we met the poet in Solentiname
Told us his story, the prizes and the pain
What would he say if he saw this today?
The Lost Revolution and The Doubtful Straits
CHORUS
More salt than pepper, more raisin than grape,
we’re loving how we’re living no tears in the rain
All your strength its like you pull up from the ground beneath you
And hold it in your arms like the way that we’re used to
And if at that time there is something that can cure you
It isn’t much, but what I have, you know I’ll give to you
CHORUS
We’re loving how we’re living no tears in the rain

High As A Kite
09:42
|
|||
Every fever, gotta break, every nightfall got a day
Every winner, gotta pray, every last stone wash away
I’m high as a kite, a comet in the night, it’s alright
It’s a silver way to be, an ocean in between
It’s a mirror laser beam, a carbon gray machine
I’m high as a kite, a comet in the night, it’s alright
You’re my hometown, on the shore, you’re a harbor in a storm
You’re all that and a little more, you’re what you were looking for
I’m high as a kite, a comet in the night, it’s alright
I’m high as a kite, a comet in the night, I’m alright
